Racha Yai is the headline destination for a full day out of Chalong. Thirteen nautical miles south, it has a string of sheltered bays on its eastern side with sand bottoms and hard coral edges.
Visibility here is usually the best of anywhere you can reach and return from in a day, which is why it is also a standard site for dive boats out of Phuket. On a good sail the passage takes around two hours.
